about

We are on route to 9523 Eridani-A, a vast unmapped region on the very outermost reaches of our Galaxy, this region has become known as The Veil.
All previous attempts to gather information on this region have failed, it has been impenetrable to all satellites and sensors and we have lost contact with every probe that has been sent, they just seem to vanish. What is out there? It seems Space just stops in its tracks or is it just a never ending void in Space, empty of matter and time.

Despite the dangers or our mission and our main objective, our natural curiosity and desire to explore has gotten the better of us. We have come across a Protostar and could not pass up the opportunity to study something that possibly one day might be the power that incubates new life.
Hanging in the darkness light emanates, as the giant mass feeds of the surrounding molecular cloud. It is strange that something which holds such immense power, should still seem so delicate and fragile. Yet it is commonplace to take comfort and see the beauty in something so hostile, and that beauty is not lost on my crew, nor is it lost on me. Surrounded by the cold depths of space, I feel warmth as I allow the spectacular view to wash over me, only the gentle sound of our engines softly humming, as we are lost to this moment of wonder. But the moment gives way to the trepidation of the mission, as we resume course.

It seems like only yesterday we had the opportunity to witness the early birth of a star, but with all the majesty and beauty space holds, it still remains fraught with danger, a fact that is not lost on me as we ease towards the remains of derelict husk. A very sobering moment, that a ship of great size should lay in ruin with many of her crew still floating amongst the wreckage.
Ashmina KymerA a huge warship from a by gone era nearly 1000 years ago, when war was rife in the core cluster. Now she stands just dead wreckage perfectly preserved in the freezing depths, ship and crew. We can't do anything for her, only mark her position and move on.

Leaving our home behind and spreading out into the Galaxy, all our problems and baser instincts still followed us. Evolution and intelligence has yet to weed out our greed and unquenchable thirst for destruction. We believe we are an enlightened species, yet we continue to learn nothing from history and ask why are we doomed to repeat it. As a species we continue to recede to our wanton need to kill one another, as if it is deeply ingrained in our makeup, passed on from one generation to the next.
Is this what is to become of us?, lost and floating in the darkness, frozen and preserved, nothing but an ancient remnant of a so called great civilization, lost to time.

As we draw nearer to our destination, the tension amongst the crew is palpable, and something that I am feeling too. Every light year that goes by, the urge to tuck tail and run, grows ever stronger, yet so does the curiosity, I can't shake the feeling that we are being drawn towards The Veil but do we continue on or do we retreat to safety?
